Alanis Sets Starbucks Record

It remains to be seen how boycotts in Alanis Morissette‘s home country will affect sales, but her album Jagged Little Pill Acoustic is a smashing success for Starbucks.

The disc – released June 13th exclusively in Starbucks stores – sold 61,000 copies in its first week, a record for the coffee chain’s Hear Music division.

The album is being sold through Starbucks for six weeks before its regular release in conjunction with Morissette’s 27-date promotional tour.

The exclusive deal has drawn ire from HMV and other Canadian retailers, some of which have announced they will no longer stock any Morissette products.
