Mitchell To Book Opera & More

Dewan Mitchell has taken over booking duties for the Detroit Opera House, and he’s working to expand the 3,400-capacity venue’s entertainment offerings.

“We want to really try and bring in more R&B entertainment and some comedy shows. We want to start looking at diversifying in terms of the audience we reach,” Mitchell told Pollstar. “We want to be a very promoter-friendly facility.”

He previously was director of events with Detroit’s Ashely Group for three years.

Mitchell said that excluding the opera season, the facility hosts up to 45 events a year; he hopes to double that number.
