The jazz-funk outfit will head across the country starting July 27 in Charlottesville, Va. The schedule currently stretches for more than two months, with a lengthy West Coast leg planned for most of September. The group is also already booked for January’s fourth annual Jam Cruise.

Former Lenny Kravitz saxophonist and Greyboy Allstars co-founder Karl Denson formed the Tiny Universe in the late ’90s. They were a smash at the Newport Jazz Festival in 2000 and have been gathering a fervent following ever since, particularly on the jam-band circuit.

KDTU has already had a busy year, working in the studio on a new full-length album and playing spring dates all over the U.S. including a June performance at Bonnaroo, for which they garnered rave reviews.

The band is enabling fans to relive many of their performances with live recordings available through their official Web site. Since the typical KDTU concert is not a brief affair, most are double-disc sets.
