Antonio Nunez Montoya Dies

Legendary flamenco singer Antonio Nunez Montoya died of cancer July 19th at his home in Seville, Spain.

Known as “El Chocolate,” Montoya, 75, was widely regarded as one of the greatest living flamenco performers.

A singer since age 6, he won a Latin Grammy for best flamenco album in 2002 and an Andalusian medal in 2003 for his contributions to the art form.

His wife, Rosa Montoya, said he had continued to perform concerts until just before his death.
