Palmdale Amphitheater Opens

The Palmdale Amphitheater in Southern California celebrated its grand opening July 15th with Tracy Lawrence.

The $1.8 million shed was financed by a 2002 bond measure as part of a $42 million project that also created two parks and several recreational facilities.

The city-managed venue occupies 6.75 acres and features a 60-foot by 40-foot stage. When construction was finished, the shed’s capacity was determined to be 12,000 – 5,000 up from the original estimate, city spokeswoman Stella Devine-Knight told Pollstar.

The city’s Department of Parks and Recreation is presenting six free concerts this summer and Clear Channel Radio is sponsoring two paid-admission concerts. An October 8th 38 Special show is the last planned concert of the year, Devine-Knight said.
