Stockton Arena Sets Opening Date

The Stockton Arena will open December 2nd under an agreement reached between the city and Swinerton Builders. The deal settles weather-related claims between the parties.

The 10,500-seat California arena was originally scheduled for an October 3rd opening. But after the region was soaked by 170 percent of its normal rainfall this year, Swinerton told city officials in late June the opening would be delayed until January.

Following negotiations, the construction company and the city announced July 19th that they had agreed on the December 2nd completion date.

The $75 million arena will be the home of three professional sports teams (hockey, arena football and indoor soccer) and will host 15 to 20 major concerts per year, venue associate GM Tim Higgins told Pollstar.
