F1 Refunds
Race car enthusiasts who attended the 2005 Formula One United States Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway June 19th will get a refund, according to tire manufacturer Michelin and the raceway.
Fans showed up expecting to see more than a dozen F1 cars compete, but only six raced. Seven F1 teams that used Michelin tires pulled out of the race because the company deemed the tires unsafe for the Indianapolis circuit. Most ticket buyers will get their refunds automatically, Michelin said.
The company added that if the 2006 F1 comes to Indianapolis, it will buy 20,000 tickets for fans who had tix for this year’s race.
But one attorney seeking to lead a class-action suit has asked fans to not take the bait, claiming the refund will void their chances to get compensated for travel and other expenses.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the only U.S. stop on F1’s circuit.
