Iggy Pop Manager Dies

Iggy Pop manager Art Collins, 52, died unexpectedly at his Pine Bush, N.Y., home July 27th. A memorial service was scheduled for 11 a.m. July 30th in nearby Walker Valley.

As founder of Art Collins Management, he also managed stars including Joe Jackson, Marianne Faithfull and Marshall Crenshaw over the years.

He also represented Kieran McGee at the time of his death.

Collins joined Atlantic Records Publicity in 1975, moving on to Rolling Stones Records where he eventually became president before leaving in 1982 to become an artist manager.

“Art was a big sweetheart. He was a marshmallow,” Iggy Pop said in a statement. “This very down-to-earth guy was a kind of tonic for everyone he met, and he really loved rock and roll. He was immensely proud of his tenure with Atlantic Records, his work with The Rolling Stones, and I hope myself as well. He was my best friend.”

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Pine Bush Ecumenical Food Pantry, P.O. Box 148, Pine Bush, NY 12566.
