Freddy Soto Dies

Comedian Freddy Soto, who toured with Carlos Mencia and Pablo Francisco as the Three Amigos, died in his sleep July 10th at a friend’s home in Los Angeles. The cause of death was unknown.

Soto, 35, moved to Los Angeles 15 years ago and landed a job as a limo driver for Richard Pryor. His parody of Pryor got him noticed and led to gigs at L.A.’s St. Mark’s Jazz Club and the Comedy Store.

Soto later headlined comedy clubs, opened for singer Marc Anthony on a 30-city tour and landed a role in the 2004 movie “Spanglish.”

He had performed at the Laugh Factory the night before his death.
