Mood Indigo
Emily Saliers and Amy Ray have spent two decades playing their guitars and singing their distinct harmonies, but they haven’t slowed down a bit. Last month, the duo released the Rarities disc – a self-descriptive retrospect – and Ray recently dropped her solo album. Their ninth studio album came out last year.
Indigo Girls have a loyal following, and no need to market the tours they announce. Their efforts on benefit of environmental and civil rights causes are well documented and successful, but they have spent an equal amount of energy keeping their songwriting strong.
Things kick off at Nashville’s Riverfront Park September 8 before going to Myrtle Beach, S.C.’s House of Blues the next night. Emily and Amy then roll through Atlanta, Lexington and Milwaukee before some shows in the Midwest – the last show in St. Louis with special guest Ari Hest. There’s also a show on the books in Chico, Calif., on the grounds Cal State Chico, January 21.
