Abdul Investigation To Wrap

Fox Television is expected to soon wrap an investigation into claims that “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul had an affair with a contestant. The results of the probe will be made public.

“Any allegations against this show we take quite seriously,” Fox Entertainment President Peter Liguori said, adding that the credibility of “Idol” is “extraordinarily important to us.”

Former show contestant Corey Clark alleges he had an affair with Abdul. He claims the judge advised him on his singing and appearance during their alleged relationship.

If the allegation proves true, Liguori said producers Fremantle Media and 19 Television will fire Abdul.

Investigators have interviewed Abdul, Clark and “corroborating witnesses,” Liguori told the Television Critics Association.

Clark was booted from “American Idol” in 2003 because he failed to reveal a prior arrest.
