Fiddler Vassar Clements Dies

Vassar Clements, 77, died August 16th at his home in Nashville after a long battle with lung cancer.

The virtuoso fiddler recorded on more than 2,000 albums with artists ranging from Paul McCartney and Johnny Cash to Bonnie Raitt and the Grateful Dead.

Clements underwent chemotherapy earlier this year but his daughter said the cancer had spread to his liver and brain.

His last performance was February 4th at the Reg Lenna Civic Center in Jamestown, N.Y.
