With 50 dates booked in a little more than two months, the duo of Slug and Mr. Dibbs will be keeping busy this fall, but that’s nothing new. The group is known for its relentless work ethic, which has paid off with a long string of sold-out shows, including nearly all of a 52-date tour this past spring.

Although Slug and Dibbs have proved they can fill halls as large as Denver’s 3,600-capacity Fillmore Auditorium, they have resisted the urge to play bigger and bigger places, preferring the intimacy of relatively smaller venues.

These days, you’re more likely to find Atmosphere doing multiple sold-out shows in the same club than playing a huge amphitheatre.

In January, they showed their appreciation for their hometown by doing eight shows in a row at Minneapolis’ 7th Street Entry. Tickets were kept under $10 and all shows, of course, sold out.

Still, this fall’s schedule doesn’t see them hitting too many dive bars. Venerable theatres like The Roxy in Boston and Los Angeles’ Wiltern LG are on the itinerary, and they’ll do back-to-back shows at San Francisco’s Fillmore.

The tour kicks off September 9-10 with two shows at Pizza Luce in Duluth, Minn., and finishes with another two-night stand November 14-15 back home at Minneapolis’ First Avenue. The group will hit more than 30 states and five Canadian provinces before they’re through.
