Council Rejects B.I.G. Settlement

The Los Angeles City Council has rejected an offer to settle the Notorious B.I.G. wrongful death lawsuit for $18 million.

The New York rapper, whose real name was Christopher Wallace, was gunned down in 1997 while leaving a Los Angeles awards show after-party.

A judge declared a mistrial July 6th after determining police withheld evidence in the case. Lawyers for the family reportedly said they sought a settlement to spare the city further litigation.

Meanwhile, the city has been ordered to pay the Wallace family’s legal fees and costs, which they claim total $2.1 million.
