Sizzla Canceled After Protest

The House of Blues in West Hollywood, Calif., canceled a September 12th concert by Sizzla after protests by the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center.

The Jamaican dancehall rapper has been scrutinized for alleged anti-homosexual lyrics.

“In working with the community, we came to the decision that we would cancel the scheduled performance of the artist,” HoB’s Jack Gannon said in a statement.

A couple of HoB shows by reggae singer Capleton met the same fate last year. However, a Sizzla concert at House of Blues Cleveland went on as scheduled August 31st despite the Center’s request to have the artist dropped from all House of Blues venues.

Sizzla was denied a visa to enter the U.K. for a tour last year after protests.
