DMB, SCI Chip In For Relief
DMB announced it would add a September 12 benefit to its already scheduled three-show run at Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. All proceeds will be donated to relief efforts.
The city of Denver, which owns and operates the amphitheatre, is waiving rent for the evening. The city and concessions company Aramark both said they will donate proceeds from food and concessions sales and parking fees.
“The amount of generosity from around the country I’m sure is staggering right now from people just giving what they can,” Matthews said.
“We’re just getting in line behind those people, getting in line a long way behind the Red Cross or National Guard, but we all have to do a little bit.”
Hunger relief organization Conscious Alliance will hold a food drive throughout the four-night run. The nonprofit is helping the Houston Food Bank deliver food to refugees arriving in Houston.
Conscious Alliance is working with America’s Second Harvest Food Bank and Houston Costco management and has enlisted the help of The String Cheese Incident and its management / booking agency, Madison House.
SCI and Madison House have arranged for several semi trucks to haul food and are rallying their fellow musicians to join the cause.
All donations made at consciousalliance.org/donate.htm will go directly to hurricane victims.
