Incendiary Oakland, Calif., natives The Coup will co-headline with Portland, Ore.’s Lifesavas on a 30-date trek that begins October 5 and runs for five full weeks.

They’ll start on Lifesavas’ home turf at Berbati’s Pan in Portland and perform around the Pacific Northwest for about a week before heading East. Their trek will take them all the way to New York City’s Canal Room before they loop back around.

The tour finishes at the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles November 9.

It’s the first major tour of the year for the groups, both of whom have been working diligently on new studio albums. The discs were originally scheduled to come out at the same time as the tour, but label delays have pushed the releases to early next year, according to Tom Windish, whose Windish Agency books the groups.

Both outfits are to have advance singles in time for the trek, however.

Windish told Pollstar The Coup will feature a full live band for the tour, in addition to MC Boots Riley and DJ Pam The Funkstress.

Lifesavas – comprising rappers Vursatyl and Jumbo and DJ Rev Shines – are releasing their new record on longtime label Quannum, while The Coup has teamed with Epitaph Records subsidiary Anti.
