The Musical Names Game

Florida’s Office Depot Center has been renamed the BankAtlantic Center under a multi-year deal that could be worth more than $1.4 million.

This is the venue’s third name in three years, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Office Depot Center was originally called National Car Rental Center when it opened in 1998. National’s parent company, ANC, filed for bankruptcy and the venue’s main tenant, the Florida Panthers, re-sold the naming rights in 2002.

Office Depot was three years into a 10-year naming rights deal but is expected to restructure that agreement and remain a sponsor of the facility, the paper said.
