Don Grashey Dies

Canadian country music manager and record exec Don Grashey died at his home in Thunder Bay, Ont., September 12th.

Grashey, 79, helped discover Loretta Lynn. He and business partner Chuck Williams, who died just 10 days earlier, worked with Lynn in the late 1950s, producing her single “I’m A Honky Tonk Girl” on their own label, according to the Canadian Press.

Grashey went on to manage the careers of Juno Award-winner Carroll Baker, Myrna Lorrie and Cindi Cain.

He was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989.
