Badfinger Drummer Dies

Badfinger drummer Michael Gibbins, 56, died in his sleep October 4th at his Florida home.

Dan Matovina, author of Without You: The Tragic Story of Badfinger, told Pollstar that Gibbins’ sons found him in bed, tried to revive him, but couldn’t.

Matovina added that the drummer hadn’t been ill prior to his death but complained of a headache before he went to bed.

The cause of death was not available at press time.

Gibbins was with Badfinger as the band made its rise in the ’70s opening for the likes of The Who, The Yardbirds, The Moody Blues, and The Spencer Davis Group.

The musician also released a handful of solo albums.
