Joshua Tree Fest Canceled

An underground music festival in Joshua Tree, Calif., was canceled about 10 days before its scheduled date of October 15th.

Four artists were set for the main stage of the Joshua Tree Festival – Rabbit In The Moon, Ozric Tentacles, Uberzone, and Gram Rabbit – with new acts on a side stage.

Organizer Tom Bunch, who’s the former manager of The Butthole Surfers and The Toadies, cited conflicting events and economic issues (including the cost of gasoline) for the cancellation.

Organizers expected 5,000 attendees from across SoCal. According to a press release,

“The timing and logistics of the desert festival are being revisited and plans for 2006 will be announced at a later date.”

Those who bought tickets were told they could get refunds at the point of purchase.
