The group will be joined on the road by John Parish and The Zincs, in addition to playing dates with Dirty Three, Chris Rees, Marah and others.

The tour is scheduled to run through December 17, with Parish on board through late October and The Zincs playing for the bulk of the following dates.

Freakwater’s Catherine Irwin and Janet Beveridge Bean were joined on their latest effort by bassist David Gay as well as a rotating cast of Califone members. Califone’s Tim Rutili produced the album, their first since 1999’s End Time.

During the band’s hiatus, Irwin and Bean each released solo albums – Cut Yourself a Switch and Dragging Wonder Lake, respectively. Eventually, fate drew them back together.

“I love singing with Catherine, and I miss it. I sort of view it like tennis: You can play it into your 80s; you just play it a little slower. I don’t want it to go away,” Bean said in a press release for the album.

Catherine agreed, adding, “The sound of two voices singing at the same time is a beautiful thing – everything else is a chore.”
