Garcia Shed ‘Deadicated’

The Jefferson Starship, “Grateful Dead Hour” host David Gans and master of ceremonies Wavy Gravy “deadicated” a 600-seat amphitheatre to the memory of Jerry Garcia in San Francisco October 30th.

Jerry Garcia Amphitheatre in the city’s McLaren Park was named for the late Grateful Dead icon with a concert and celebration of “Jerry Day” August 7th.

Organizers announced at that time a formal dedication would take place later in the year.

It was the second event of the week in San Francisco honoring Garcia’s memory. Mickey Hart led a 200-person drum circle at the October 26th opening of a new exhibit at City Hall featuring Garcia’s artwork.
