Malfitano Exits Music Hall

Frank Malfitano has stepped down as artistic director of the Music Hall Center For The Performing Arts in Detroit.

Malfitano, also director of the venue’s Detroit International Jazz Festival, told the city’s Free Press he resigned for family and health reasons.

But he is expected to remain at the helm of the Labor Day weekend jazz fest despite Carhartt clothing heiress Gretchen Valade pledging $10 million to create a nonprofit foundation to produce the event, the paper said.
