New Zealand’s Rising Star
The 18-year-old New Zealander will tour with the vocal group until the end of February -approximately 14 dates.
The singer has performed infrequently in the U.S and the 2006 run with ultra-hot Il Divo could be her breakout tour. Westenra’s headlining tour of North America will follow in the spring; dates are trickling in now.
She may be young, especially by classical music standards, but Charlotte Church and Josh Groban have proved that youth isn’t necessarily a disadvantage. Westenra has already shown she can captivate an audience. Her debut album, Pure, has sold more than 2 million copies worldwide and the 2005 follow-up, Odyssey, has been doing well internationally since its fall release.
The new CD features her rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now,” as well as a duet, “Dell’amore non sis a,” with Andrea Bocelli.
