Man Arrested In Venue Scam
Officials have arrested a man from Canyon Lake, Calif., whom they claim scammed victims into believing they were purchasing an interest in The Diamond baseball stadium in Lake Elsinore.
“[John Mark] claimed that he was selling stock in a company that was going to buy The Diamond and build a motocross track, then broadcast events there all over the world,” Deputy District Attorney Michael Silverman told The Californian.
Five victims were allegedly defrauded out of an estimated $215,000 from March 2003 through April 2004. Mark was being held on $1 million bail at press time.
