Virgin’s Mestel Steps Down

Virgin Records COO/GM Larry Mestel stepped down as of November 22nd.

A spokesperson for Virgin parent company EMI Group told Pollstar Mestel left his post by mutual agreement and is in discussions with EMI Music about a different role in the company.

Lava Records GM Lee Trink is rumored to replace him.

Mestel’s exit follows Matt Serletic’s resignation as Virgin’s chairman October 18th.

He was replaced by former Atlantic Records chief Jason Flom.
