En Totah

An intimate movie theatre in Farmington, N.M., has been remade into a live music venue.

The 288-capacity Totah Theater was purchased by Bev and Tom Taylor and reopened with a New Year’s Eve celebration.

Dona Brown, executive director of the theatre, said the venue is looking to book basically all types of live performances, from rock, country, roots and ska to comedy shows.

“We’re interested in anything and everything,” Brown told Pollstar.

Travis Ledoyt, “The World’s Best Young Elvis,” performed at the New Year’s celebration, and Brown hopes to book the The Subdudes soon. An act called Old Man Shattered played December 30th.

The theatre opened in 1948 and closed in 1982. Preparation for the reopening has taken a year and a half.

City officials believe the theatre will be a positive addition to downtown. The venue can be reached at 505-325-9122 and fax is 505-325-9241; its Web site is totahtheatre.org.
