Two Charged In Harvey Murders
Two men were arrested January 7th and charged in the brutal murders of former House of Freaks guitarist Brian Harvey, his wife and two children at their Richmond, Va., home on New Year’s Day.
The men are also suspected in the murder of another Richmond family of three, whose bodies were found bound with duct tape in their home January 6th. The suspects were arrested in Philadelphia and have ties to the area, although police would not elaborate.
Both are charged with conspiracy to commit murder and auto theft after they were caught driving a stolen vehicle that belonged to one of the victims.
The bodies of Brian Harvey 49; his wife, Katherine, 39; and daughters Stella, 9, and Ruby, 4, were discovered after family friend Johnny Hott (Harvey’s bandmate in House of Freaks) and his daughter arrived at the home for a New Year’s Day chili party.
Hott told police he walked in the unlocked front door and was immediately engulfed in smoke. He shouted for a neighbor to call 911 after he called out to the family and no one answered. Authorities found the Harveys in their basement, bound with duct tape and their throats cut.
Police said it did not appear that anything was stolen from the home, which had been set on fire.
