Orton Gets Comfy
Singer/songwriter Beth Orton is back with U.K. tour plans and her first album in nearly four years.
A two-week February jaunt will take her through 11 cities, starting in Bristol on the 14th. The tour wraps at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire February 27.
Orton’s new album, Comfort of Strangers, was produced by Jim O’Rourke – best known for his work as a member/producer of Sonic Youth, as well as work with Wilco, John Fahey, and Stereolab. The disc hits stores February 7 on Astralwerks.
Prior to the album’s release, Orton will do a three-show residency at The Spitz in London December 6-12.
Orton visited the U.S. in August for a sold-out show at the Boulder Theater in Colorado, supported by fellow Brit duo Turin Brakes.
Comfort of Strangers is Orton’s first album since 2002’s Daybreaker.
