Louise Scruggs Dies

Louise Scruggs, wife of banjo great Earl Scruggs and cosnidered one of the most influential business people in country music history, reportedly died at age 78 in Nashville’s Baptist Hospital February 2nd.

Scruggs, who was one of the first female music managers in Nashville, booked and managed Flatt & Scruggs about 50 years ago, according to The Tennessean.

She went on to manage the Earl Scruggs Revue. Scruggs had been battling respiratory ailments for many months, the paper said.

“She advanced me and advanced our music,” Earl Scruggs told the Tennessean about a week before she passed away. “I didn’t get where I went just on talent.”
