LN Gets U.K. Phone Call

Live Nation has contracted with Nokia to launch an online music service that will allow concert-goers to purchase tickets using cell phones.

The Web site, ticketrush.co.uk, will allow users to be notified when tickets go on sale for various events. The notifications will be text-messaged to their Nokia cell phones, and the potential concert-goers can use the Web-access features of the phone to order ducats at Ticketrush.

At least one company in the U.K. is experimenting this summer with sending bar codes to ticket-buyers’ cell phones, which can be scanned at venues in lieu of paper tickets. It is uncertain if the Live Nation / Nokia venture offers the same service, and a Ticketrush representative was unavailable at press time.

The Web site is expected to offer customers tickets to sold-out shows when those last-minute ticket releases take place.
