Fax Calls For R. Kelly Boycott

A fax was recently sent to Pollstar that read “Boycott R. Kelly.”

The one-page flyer said the artist employs white promoters, agents, managers, lawyers and even limo drivers, which means less employment for African Americans.

It was apparently sent from a Kinko’s copy shop in the Jacksonville, Fla., area and was signed by the “National Black Promoters Association” but there was no contact information.

A representative from Creative Artists Agency, which is booking Kelly’s upcoming tour, said the company did not receive a similar fax.

Leonard Rowe, president of the Black Promoters Association of America, told Pollstar he has never heard of the group and BPAA had nothing to do with the flyer.
