The tour launches with two nights in a row at First Avenue in Minneapolis. Double gigs are planned in a number of cities, including Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

New York City’s Irving Plaza will host three shows May 3-5.

The current itinerary has the band going as far west as Texas, with Austin hosting the last confirmed date May 20.

According to a press release, the new album, titled You In Reverse, is Built To Spill’s “first self-produced and truly collaborative band effort.” The group is now officially a five-piece, with the addition of guitarists Jim Roth and Brett Netson to the core lineup of Martsch, Scott Plouf and Brett Nelson.

Although Built To Spill hasn’t released an album since 2001’s Keep It Like A Secret, the band has been touring with increasing frequency in the last few years.

Martsch did a few rounds of gigs in 2002 in support of his solo album, Now You Know.
