The Warfield Again

San Francisco’s SF Weekly Warfield will reportedly soon revert to its historic moniker, the Warfield Theatre, due to a lawsuit settlement between Bill Graham Presents and theatre owners Warfield Theater LLC.

An attorney for the owners told the San Francisco Chronicle that BGP (now Live Nation) will keep its lease until it expires May 2008. The suit wanted to reclaim the original name of the 84-year-old facility and cancel the lease.

BGP entered into a three-year naming rights deal with the SF Weekly last spring. Financial details were undisclosed. Theatre owners sued BGP in October, claiming they had exclusive rights to rename the venue.
