Red Bull Picks Up AEG Soccer Team

Anschutz Entertainment Group sold its interest in the New Jersey MetroStars minor league soccer team to Red Bull, the Austrian energy drink-maker, March 9th.

The company also received naming rights to a new stadium the team and AEG hope to build in Harrison, N.J.

AEG retains its 50 percent ownership of the real estate, and will be in charge of building and operating the stadium, regardless of the sale of the Major League Soccer team.

AEG still owns four of the 12 MLS teams: the Chicago Fire, D.C. United, Houston Dynamo and the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Red Bull plans to name the team after the company.
