Jones, 74, is expected to make a full recovery, but doctors advised him to enter Nashville’s Baptist Hospital on March 30 for treatment, according to Bandit Records.

Weekend performances for Albany, Ga., Panama City, Fla., and Chattanooga will be rescheduled, the release said.

Jones’ hits include “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” “The Race Is On,” “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes” and “I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair.” He has been touring to support his 2005 album “Hits I Missed … And One I Didn’t” and performing at about 95 shows a year.

Problems with drug and alcohol abuse earlier in his career earned him the nickname “No Show Jones,” but he has said he has been sober for years.

Jones, a Texas native who was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1992, was critically injured in a March 1999 wreck when his sport utility vehicle crashed into a bridge about a mile from his Franklin home. He suffered a lacerated liver and spent 13 days in a hospital, part of the time on a ventilator.

He underwent a triple bypass of his coronary arteries in September 1994.
