The tour starts April 26 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., and heads down to Florida and Georgia before hitting Knoxville, Tenn.’s Sundown In The City festival May 11. They’ll finish up two days later at the Tulip Festival in Albany, N.Y.

The prolific group released a DVD/CD package, Venue Songs, last November, although it is only available online and at live shows. The disc is a chronicle of the band’s 2004 tour, when members John Linnell and John Flansburgh wrote and performed a new song for each venue on their tour.

The disc features narration from author / former literary agent / “Daily Show” contributor John Hodgman.

This spring’s outing is the band’s first major road trip since last summer, although they played a couple West Coast gigs just before the release of Venue Songs.
