Yanni Won’t Face Charges

Charges won’t be filed against Yanni after his March 3rd domestic battery arrest, authorities said.

He was arrested at his Manalapan, Fla., home after girlfriend Silvia Barthes told police Yanni shook her, threw her on the bed and jumped on her.

The Greek-born pianist said Barthes kicked him during the scuffle and hurt his finger.

“Essentially, it came down to a ‘he said, she said,'” a spokesman for the state attorney in Palm Beach County said. “The alleged event took place behind closed doors without any independent witnesses or evidence to support the charge.”

Yanni said that after the incident, Barthes’ attorney sought a monetary settlement. He said no money was paid.

“Unforutnately, celebrities are often seen as easy targets and very vulnerable to these kinds of baseless allegations and false demands for money,” he said.
