Bouncer Arraigned In Proof Case
A bouncer at the nightclub where D12 member Proof was shot and killed was arraigned April 15th on two weapons charges.
Two were shot in the nightclub incident, leaving Proof dead and another in critical condition. Police reports have said Proof fired first.
Mario Etheridge is charged with carrying a concealed weapon and discharge of a firearm in a building. His lawyer entered innocent pleas on his behalf. Bond was set at $70,000 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled April 26th.
Etheridge turned himself over to police for questioning April 12th. Police said his cousin, Army veteran Keith Bender, was shot in the head by Proof following an argument. Witnesses have told police the fatal argument started over a game of pool.
Etheridge’s attorney has not said whether his client shot Proof, but said whoever did fired in defense of self and others.
The shooting remains under investigation. The Wayne County prosecutor’s office said that without the weapons charges, Etheridge would have to be released.
Proof, a good friend of Eminem, was killed April 11th at the CCC nightclub on Detroit’s 8 Mile Road, which became famous in the 2002 movie “8 Mile.”
