Jane’s veterans Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins and Chris Chaney formed The Panic Channel with singer Steve Isaacs in 2004 and will launch the group’s first tour May 16 in San Diego.

The 17-city itinerary includes stops at theatres in Dallas, Atlanta, New York City and Chicago. The tour will circle back to wrap in West Hollywood, Calif., at The Roxy Theatre June 7.

The Panic Channel’s first album, (ONe), isn’t due until September but the group will unveil a two-song digital release on the day of the tour launch.

Navarro said fans might be surprised – pleasantly, of course – by the band’s sound.

“When a new person comes in, you can’t help but evolve,” Navarro said. “Steve comes from a singer/songwriter background, whereas Perkins and I come from more of a jamming and experimental background, and I think what we came up with is a great combination of songs and musicianship.”
