Party On
Karl Wallinger and World Party have been fairly silent since the late 1990s, but the band is back in action this spring with its first tour in seven years.
The group will launch a North American tour May 18 in Birmingham, Ala., with dates currently scheduled through June 1 and more to be announced.
The band is also booked for the Bonnaroo Music Festival June 16 in Manchester, Tenn.
The entire World Party catalog is also being remastered and repackaged this spring, including the band’s most recent album, Dumbing Up, which only received a partial U.K. release in 2000.
World Party was struck a near-fatal blow four years ago when Wallinger suffered an aneurysm. Finally back in good health, the singer/multi-instrumentalist returned to the stage with a much-heralded performance at South by Southwest earlier this year.
