A televised seance that claims to have reached John Lennon’s spirit aired April 24th, effectively putting a $10 price tag on watching people communicate with the deceased.
“The Spirit of John Lennon,” an In-Demand pay-per-view special, was organized by producers of a similar 2003 show that attempted to reach Princess Diana’s spirit, according to Reuters. That show reportedly grossed close to $8 million.
The idea has been criticized by the Beatle’s friends and fans, who say it is a tasteless effort to profit on the rock legend’s assassination.
The show does not have the consent of Yoko Ono or Lennon’s estate, according to Reuters.
