Harris And Hanley Grab Parnellis
Production Resource Group founder Jere Harris and sound pioneer Bill Hanley are expected to receive the Parnelli Lifetime Achievement Award and the Innovator Award respectively at the sixth annual Parnelli Awards Dinner in Las Vegas October 20th.
Harris has worked on more than 500 major productions, corporate and special events, and trade shows.
Technology he developed has been used in Broadway shows like “The Phantom of the Opera” and “Les Miserables,” and Universal Studios theme park attraction “Terminator 2 in 3D.”
Harris founded PRG in 1996, which now has 16 offices in North America and the U.K.
Hanley twisted the knobs for The Beatles, Velvet Underground, Jefferson Airplane and other classic acts and also adjusted sound for the Woodstock and Newport festivals. He even coined the term “sound reinforcement.”
The Parnelli Awards are named after production manager Rick “Parnelli” O’Brien. Last year’s Lifetime Achievement Award went to famed road-warrior Patrick Stansfield and the Innovator Award was given to soundman Bruce Jackson.
