Go-Betweens’ McLennan Dies

Grant McLennan, co-founder of The Go-Betweens, died in his sleep at his home in Brisbane May 6. He was 48.

McLennan and Forster formed the Go-Betweens in the mid-1970s when they both attended the University of Queensland in Brisbane.

Their fans included R.E.M.‘s Michael Stipe, U2‘s Bono, Nick Cave, Lloyd Cole, Belle & Sebastian, and Franz Ferdinand.

The American TV show “24” refers slyly to a sinister organisation called McLennan-Forster, an in-joke from its producer Evan Katz, who is also a big fan.
