Fargo Considers All-Ages Bar Shows
Fargo, N.D., officials are considering changes in liquor laws that would allow minors to attend concerts in bars if separate spaces are set aside for minors.
Current Fargo law prevents businesses with liquor licenses from allowing anyone under 21 on the property. Police reportedly began enforcing that law last month, and told promoters to move an all-ages rap concert away from a bar.
City Attorney Garylle Stewart said proponents of all-ages shows might want to try to change state law during the next legislative section.
Under the changes, private, invitation-only events would allow minors to mingle with adults, and the liquor license holder will be responsible to make sure they aren’t drinking.
The city commission is expected to take up the proposal in the next few weeks.
