Robbie Williams Tour Sells Out

While Robbie Williams‘ “Close Encounters” world tour kicked off in Dublin June 9th, there was ticket frenzy in Australia – the 14th and last country on the schedule.

About 300,000 tix sold in the first 24 hours, with two extra shows added in Sydney and Melbourne for the December visit.

Williams’ management is deliberating whether to add extra arena dates in Perth and Adelaide.

Promoter Michael Chugg said consumer demand is still so heated that Williams could do 100,000 more tix in Sydney alone.

Such was demand that the policy of six tickets per person quickly whittled to one per person in some ticket centres 20 minutes after the box office opened. Scalpers sold six gold reserve tix for more than $13,000. Tix worth $149.95 each were offered for $1,475 a pair.
