The politically minded group, led by Sonia Rutstein, has a number of East Coast dates booked for July, including the NC Women’s Jam Fest in Nashville, N.C., and three days at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in Hillsdale, N.Y.

They’ll hit Madison, Wis., in late July for a concert in the city’s Concrete Park and an appearance at the Grassroots Radio Conference.

The group will make sporadic appearances throughout the fall, then head out on its five-night Fan Club Cruise in December. SONiA and disappear fear will give two concerts, a party and an autograph session on the cruise, which will depart from Tampa, Fla., and hit Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

Rutstein formed disappear fear with her sister Cindy in 1987, eventually focusing on a solo career after Cindy gave up life on the road for motherhood in the late ’90s.

Last year, Rutstein recruited percussionist/vocalist Laura Cerulli and bassist/trumpeter Angela Edge and began touring in a trio format. The group released a concert album, DF05 LiVE, last October, and has been touring consistently since then.
