Radio City Rebrands

Radio City Entertainment will be renamed MSG Entertainment as part of a major expansion of its entertainment portfolio, the company announced June 28th. MSGE will continue in the tradition of Radio City Entertainment’s current operations, but with an eye on expanding by “aggressively pursuing innovative new content opportunities,” according to a statement.

“Madison Square Garden as a brand represents the very best of entertainment – the symbol of history-making, once-in-a-lifetime events that mesmerize, excite and captivate people from all over the world,” MSGE President Jay Marciano said. “What better way to usher in a new era of entertainment excellence and innovation than to redefine ourselves as embodying all that the MSG brand represents.”

MSG Entertainment said it will expand its business considerably, including original theatrical productions, city-wide events, and new venue opportunities.

Whether that means a House of Blues Entertainment-style national venue and brand expansion remains to be seen, but some industry observers speculate that could be in the works.

In the meantime, MSGE will continue to manage and operate all facets of the booking, marketing and production of all events at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, as well as the entertainment events at Madison Square Garden, the Theatre at Madison Square Garden and the Expo Center at MSG.
