Stevie Nicks, who joined Petty onstage as a “surprise” guest at the first eight shows of the tour, will appear at select shows throughout the summer as well.

As previously announced, the tour’s second leg will run from July 29 through August 18 with opening duties spread between Trey Anastasio, The Allman Brothers Band, and The Derek Trucks Band.

The third round of shows will launch with two shows at Chicago’s Charter One Pavilion September 14-15. The Strokes will open in Chicago as well as four amphitheatre shows in the South. Black will take over in Berkeley, Calif., September 29-30, followed by Mayer in Phoenix October 4.

Support is still TBA for a September 27 gig in San Diego.

The itinerary also includes a headlining slot for Petty at the in Texas.

Petty and his band are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year. Petty’s latest solo disc, Highway Companion, is due for a July 25 release.
